Last night Tim and I went with some friends to a concert held at the Princeton Chapel. The choir who sang was the world renowned St. Olaf Choir. Many of the songs they sang were directly based on Scripture. All other songs, whether sung in English, Latin, German, Hebrew, Persian or in the style of an African-American Spiritual, gave glory to God. And I was lifted up. How beautiful to hear praises—to hear love songs—sung to our King!

And for us, who may not exactly be world-renown-choir-material, it is still so good and so lifting to sing and give glory to our God. Singing our thanks out to our God—for who He is and what He has done to reach into our world and into our hearts to save us, to heal us, to empower us and transform us—is a beautiful expression of our love for our ABBA, the Almighty God of all creation!

How much more beautiful is it for us to realize that our LORD sings out His love songs over us!

The LORD your God is with you,

he is mighty to save.

He will take great delight in you,

he will quiet you with His love,

he will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

So, yes, let’s sing out our love to our LORD—our very lives belong to Him and sprang from Him…and are redeemed by His love!

AND let’s always allow our LORD’s love to quiet us enough so that we may hear as His love song over us!
